Custom Prompts

A great way to customize the Wedge interview flow for candidates is by adding your own custom prompts, we highly recommend it! Read on for steps on how to upload your own!

💡 A note on custom uploads: uploading custom prompts is not Interview-specific, so once prompts are uploaded they will be available for all Interviews.

How to Create Custom Prompts

Follow the steps below to add a custom prompt to your library:

  • Locate and click on the orange + Create Prompt button on the top of the page.
  • Decide whether you'd like to upload/record a video or create a text-only prompt.
    • If you'd like to upload a video (or multiple) you can drag and drop it from your files or use the browse files link on the page.
    • If you'd like to record a video in app, you can do that by clicking Record One
  • Type a prompt title into the Internal Title field.
    • This will appear when you hover over the prompt and is a really helpful shortcut for remembering which prompt is which.
  • Type the prompt you'd like candidates to answer into the Prompt Text field.
  • Click the Create button.
    • If you'd like to add another prompt, click the + button on the bottom left of the screen and repeat the process!

💡 This changes the prompt for all Interviews using this Playlist.

Adding Custom Prompts to the Lineup

You can add your custom prompts to your lineup the same way you do other prompts, by opening up the Custom category and selecting them.

Helpful Info

Recording your own custom prompts

There are 2 ways that you can record custom prompts, in-app or using third-party recording device. To record in-app, click on the Record One link and follow the steps on the page to record it.

To record a custom prompt video using a third-party, you have several options, including, but not limited to, a mobile device, webcam, and professional recording equipment. All are great options, just make sure you are in a quiet, well-lit area without any distractions in the background.

💡 Video files must be either .mp4 or .mov, in order to be uploaded.

Accessibility

For accessibility reasons, it is very important the prompt text match the question you ask in the video exactly. This prompt text will be shown verbatim to candidates in the recording process, in the case that they can't hear the video, this is the only way they will know the prompt.

Internal Title

When creating prompts questions, you'll see the option to add an Internal Title. This can be really helpful if you are adding multiple of the same prompts but want to be able to use them for different Interviews.
